KUCHELAN.R is the great leader who made it happen 

TRADE UNION SHOULD BELONG TO ITS WORKERS

R.K was born at 1936 in mettupalayam which is near ponamalle-avadi road,chennai to the great parents Thiru.Ramasamy Reddiar and Thirumathi Kamalatchi Ammal.

He completed his high school in his village itself and his higher secondary at ponamalle school. He did his graduation in economics in Pachaiappan College in Chennai. He Finlay completed his law in Bangalore Law College.

In 1963 he got registered in Chennai Bar Council and practised as lawyer under the guidance of senior lawyer K.V.Sankaran and Mohan Kumaramangalam. While practising as lawyer he got involved in trade union activities also. as a symbol of love on workers and farmers he got himself engaged in union activity for full time.

On those days in and around Chennai city all trade union were in control of political parties,government and few dominating leaders.workers suffered a great set back in all terms because trade union were non democratic,absences in transparency and had lack of motivation for workers. To abolish this scenario of workers worst condition  made r.k to devote his full time to reform  this situation. After a long Battle he made trade union independent from the hands of dominates and gave a new version in form of democracy. He personally faced lot of setbacks in his life to achieve this.

He made it happen that union belongs to its workers, He made it democratic, R. K brought a great change in the standards of workers,he increased the bargain capacity of union . He raised the status of union leaders,its representative elected by workers for union to sit directly in front of top and middle management to solve their own issues and welfare in appropriate manner. He conducted lot of self development programme for workers to gain confidence of unity and its power. He framed many federations to gain knowledge of various other company status and real situations.The federation framed by him helped to gain more support from other unions in terms of fund and moral support in critical situations such as strike and protest. He made them realised the real magical power of unity. the episode started from Simpson in past to present Hyundai.

The main objectives of R. Kuchelar were

1.Union should be democratic.

2.Workers should select their own representative by secret ballot system.

3.To build unity among workers.

4.To implement all settlements by workers approval.

5.To give right education to union Representatives .

6. To live a honest life in public and personal life.

7.Union should be free from political parties and its banner.

The Magic of his Principals made him a great leader among working category peoples.

He slowly started to take leadership in private ,public enterprises in and around Tamilnadu.
